PLANNING YOUR PROJECT
What Affects Scaffolding Costs?
A scaffolding quotation needs to reflect the site and the work planned. This guide explains what to include in an enquiry, rather than offering a price that may not fit your project.
PLANNING YOUR PROJECT
A scaffolding quotation needs to reflect the site and the work planned. This guide explains what to include in an enquiry, rather than offering a price that may not fit your project.
The size and shape of the access arrangement are important starting points. Explain which elevations need to be reached, the type of work and whether access is required at roof level, around a chimney or across a wider building face.
A request for scaffolding around a house does not tell the whole story. A small repair, a re-roof and an extension can involve different arrangements even at the same address.
Restricted side passages, extensions, conservatories and adjoining structures are useful details to raise early. Photographs can help describe the space available around the building.
For commercial sites, explain delivery arrangements, occupied or operating areas and any requirements from the main contractor. The quotation needs to be discussed against the actual site brief.
Share your intended start date and your contractor’s expected programme. Tell us if later trades will also need the scaffold, or if the work is expected to happen in stages.
Temporary roofs, staircase access, edge protection and specialist arrangements should be identified in the initial enquiry where relevant. A price for one access brief should not be assumed to cover additional work or later changes.
Compare the described scope as well as the headline amount. Ask what access is included, what hire period is being allowed for and how changes or extensions to the programme would be handled.
Check the arrangements for erection and dismantling and clarify any exclusions. If two quotations appear different, ask whether they describe the same project requirements before treating them as directly comparable.
Send the full site address, a description of the work, likely dates and any contractor access requirements. Explain which details are still provisional.
TMP does not publish a standard price in this guide. Request a free, no-obligation quotation through our contact form. We are based in Market Harborough, covering approximately a 50-mile radius across the surrounding Midlands and considering larger projects further afield.
